Smallpox Vaccination replaces Smallpox Variolation: Trading one form of Murder for Another (William Gibson Ward, 1878)

Share:

In the 1800s, the procedure called smallpox vaccination would replace smallpox variolation.

Smallpox variolation is technically the forerunner to vaccination, but in essence it is the beginning of vaccination; vaccination in all but name (and both practices can be referred to as “inoculation”). Smallpox variolation inoculates one with diseased fluids from people in the name of fighting smallpox, while smallpox vaccination — which replaced it — inoculates one with diseased fluids from the cow and/or horse in the name of fighting smallpox. (Although smallpox vaccination would often end up using diseased fluids from people as well — perhaps even from corpses.)

In short, both were the injection of poison that led to suffering and death. The shift from variolation to vaccination was just a superficial sleight of hand (of course, as is today, many sincerely believed in the procedures).

According to the following from William Gibson Ward in 1878, both were homicidal, although deaths and injuries from smallpox vaccination were more subtle than smallpox variolation. Thus, doctors could more easily delude themselves and others as to the safety of vaccination — and thus giving the practice a sense of credibility.

Here we include Ward’s article discussing this, as well as comments about vaccination as a quack science, the corruption of doctors, and a plea for parents to never submit their children to vaccination.

(Note: Jenner, whom this article refers to, was the popularizer of smallpox vaccination.)

Nothing is new under the sun, however, and so while Ward’s comments dealt with smallpox vaccination in the 1800s, they are just as relevant today. The murderous practice of vaccination is still aggressively pushed for profit (although for depopulation as well), to the sacrifice of countless people, including children. Some vaccines (such as the COVID shot) are more obviously dangerous — while others are more subtly dangerous.

And of course, many, including some doctors, are genuinely deluded as to the legitimacy of vaccination. Parents vaccinate their children in good faith — only to discover to their horror its deadly effect.

As then, parents today need to stand up for their children against vaccination, whatever the cost.

From “Vaccination: False and Failing Foundations” by William Gibson Ward

Every tyrant has some plea for trampling upon human rights. Every quack gives some plausible reasons for his universal and infallible cures. Only the Jennerite deceiver ventures to invade the sanctity of homes and pollute the cradle and destroy the lives or health of infants on the authority of a travestie of law, an infamous Act of Parliament. The silly follower of Jenner does not attempt to reason with the people, and prove without any mistake that vaccination is beneficial to the human race: that it does lessen the amount of human suffering, and that it does control and subdue small-pox.

The Jennerite doctors are fully aware that they cannot by any facts or any reasoning establish vaccination as beneficial to the human race, and they are singularly unanimous in avoiding all argument on the subject. They vie with each other in giving false certificates of death; publishing false statistics; in stating that each case of confluent, and therefore deadly, small-pox was unvaccinated or vaccinated badly! They rely upon their vested interest, and depend upon the ignorance and stupidity of the general public, and the average silliness of the Members of the House of Commons.

But once there was a supposed foundation to build upon: the tyrannical notion that all liberty of fathers to control the direction of their children’s welfare should be taken from them; that all infants should be vivisected and polluted to promote the pecuniary prosperity of medical men, regardless of infant life, regardless of the purity of human blood, regardless of conscientious and reasoned-out objections to the superstition, and regardless of our political rights, our old freedom from all despotism.

Yes, there was once a delusion which was made the foundation of inoculation, and afterwards the foundation of vaccination. This delusion was that small-pox never assailed any human being more than once in a lifetime. Then, inoculation was sanctioned and practised, to give to all human beings, nicely prepared by cooling diet and medicine a mild form of small-pox, to secure them through life from any other and severer attack of that disease. For about fourscore years this absurd medical practice was followed, giving great wealth to medical men; but to the country it gave a perpetual, undying, unfailing, smallpox epidemic, constant disease and constant suffering. The evidence that the foundation of the evil practice was a fallacy was constantly before the public, but no medical man would see it.

Only inoculation, the structure built on the foundation, was discovered to be wrong, and only admitted to be so discovered, when another pretentious absurdity equally profitable to the doctors, was ready to take its place! Inoculation was put aside to give way to vaccination. One wildly homicidal practice was put aside to give place to another rather less murderous but more polluting to the human race.

The one killed too palpably, to the danger of the character of medical men being condemned to the level of remorseless murderers and slayers of mankind. The other, vaccination, kills more subtly–it can be pleaded it was erysipelas which did the deed, and it can be suppressed that vaccination caused the erysipelas. It can be pleaded it was the east wind, or the dirty neighbourhood, that did the murder! and as coroners deem it their duty to favour doctors and support a legalized imposture, the verdict is always favourable, except there is a juryman who will not be hoodwinked and will not connive at crime, even in a doctor.

That vaccination–giving the cow-pock–prevents the possibility of smallpox ever attacking the victim is still the superstition, though it has not an atom of evidence to support the credence. Even Dr. Collie, of Homerton Hospital, has to admit that after small-pox, and small-pox deeply marked on the skin, small-pox comes again to the same man! He, too, details many cases (vaccinated) had small-pox when a child, and again in 1877, had small-pox. It is useless mocking the public, as if all people were idiots, and saying the vaccination was bad.

We know all vaccination is bad–vilely bad–a cruel superstition. In the face of simply one attack of smallpox what is the use of the imposed disease vaccination? Why add so seriously to human suffering? Can it be that humanity and human existence is to be sacrificed to create fees for doctors? If small-pox does come again and again to the same man or woman as often as they are placed in contact with it, with their blood foul and acid to receive it, what plea is there for vaccination?

Of course Jenner had no plea to meet such a a fact, the fact crushes all his pretensions, and leaves him exposed as the dupe of his own ignorance. But modern doctors say it modifies the disease–makes it less virulent. Whereis the proof? None but the doctor’s idle, truthless assertion. Small-pox, in the days of Queen Elizabeth, according to all experience, did not kill at all. But from doctors tampering with it for two hundred years or more, it killed off 16 to 18 out of the 100 who suffered from the disease and suffered still more from the bleeding and stifling treatment of the doctors.

But now, when common sense prevents the stifling treatment, and the pickled herring treatment, and gives the patient all the benefit of modern knowledge, the death-rate last year in Metropolitan Hospitals was 23 per cent. How is the disease modified then, if it kills still as of old, nay, with increased malignity? Dr. Richardson, in a work of this day, admits that give small-pox every opportunity, and it slays with the same virulence as it did of old.

We say with increased virulence, and the facts support our statement. We challenge the doctors to disprove our statements. We challenge them to press a platform. We charge the Jennerite doctors with being homicides, slaughterers and polluters of the human race. If they are manly they will brand us as slanderers, or leave off their evil practices. We appeal to the public, to the fathers and mothers of infants to withhold their children from the Jennerite pollution; to stand against the doctor’s despotism as determinedly as Hampden did, risking and losing his life, rather than a trifling money imposition should be exacted illegally under the name of law.

We appeal to all fathers and mothers who are convinced from experience of the fearful evils of vaccination to stand by their infants as faithfully as a hen defends her chickens, or as any beast will defend its offspring, we ask them to defend their infants from pollution with at least the same courage and determination … even though to fulfil their parental duties they should need to serve an apprenticeship in jail once and again. Charles Washington Nye has now been in prison for the eighth time in defence of his children ! and is ready to go there as many times more, as the oppressors may choose. This is a true Englishman and a true father.
